State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyễn Xu鈔 Ph鷆 met to strengthen ties in all sectors including trade, investment, agriculture, transport, energy and telecommunications.

 

According to an announcement by the State Counsellor抯 Office, both leaders discussed traditional friendship and bilateral cooperation started by Myanmar late leader General Aung San and late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and enhanced cooperation in all fields for mutual benefits in August 2017. 

 

Myanmar and Vietnam also signed bilateral cooperation agreements.

 

Sett Aung, Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance and Phan Tam, Deputy Minister for Information and Communications also signed bilateral cooperation agreement in post, communication and information technology sector.

 

Kyaw Soe Win, Myanmar Ambassador for Vietnam and Phan Tam, Deputy Minister for Information and Communications bilateral cooperation agreement in information sector.

 

Suu Kyi left early to Vietnam on April 19 and arrived at Hanoi in the morning.

 

The Myanmar delegation was welcomed by Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy, Vietnamese Ambassador for Myanmar Dr Luan Thuy Duong and Myanmar Ambassador for Vietnam Kyaw Soe Win and officials at the airport.

 

The State Counsellor is accompanied by Minister of Transport and Communications Thant Sin Maung, Minister of International Cooperation Kyaw Tin, Deputy Minister of the President抯 Office Min Thu, Deputy Minister of Planning and Finance Sett Aung and officials.

 

She will stay at Vietnam for two days, according to a Tweet made by the Vietnamese government.

 

Myanmar is the first Southeast Asian country to establish diplomatic relation with Vietnam in 1975, according to Vietnam news.
